GP's Brownswood Update

its been over a year now that we put our first record out here at
brownswood and I have to say that I've loved getting back into the
heart of putting records out.
as you may already know I was the person behind acid jazz and talkin
loud and before that BGP and Hardback - so I've been there! and
whilst the last few years away  were needed, I'm amazed how much I've
enjoyed getting back into the rough and tumble,  specially during
such a transitionary period for the industry. watching ben westbeech
grow so much - from doing it in his bedroom to doing it live and
beyond, getting in the studio with jose james in New York and
watching the joy in junior mance as he guested on 'spirits up above',
hanging out with elan mehler sipping armagnac in switzerland whilst
listening to his  subtle angles on the piano, curating the bubblers
comps and watching all these great new artists independently
connecting with each other, and of course receiving brilliant remixes
from the likes of osunlade, jazzanova, daisake tanabe and switch.
yes, its been great and we've already had some memorable parties too
- Berlin, Paris, New York and Tokyo! we're still at our infancy stage
but we're growing quick and I want to thank you for your great
support - I and the artists truly appreciate it!

so whats new?

the second brownswood bubblers album will be out in June - we're also doing
a 12" of the middlewood sessions track "fallback" with a re-rub from
spiritual south on the flip. elan mehlers' beautiful album scheme for
thought is out in July, jose will  be dropping a 12" over the summer prior
to the album release in September.

we're also starting a new brownswood bass session at the spitz
beginning june 17th. this will be a monthly event with dj sets and live jams
featuring brownswood associated artists. london needs it!

I'm currently touring the States having just performed at the winter
music conference - the vibes are good and the music's sounding as
great as ever!

“I was the person behind acid jazz”...
Wait a minute: weren’t there at least TWO persons?! I mean Chris Bangs shouldn’t be forgotten about. As for Lord Piller, who’s still running the label by the way.
Having said this, love Brownswood. Love the Ben Westbeech stuff. Am glad to see acts like Marcina Arnold or Sarah Ann Web back in business. And love the way you see & share true music.
Peace.
